Tip of the Month

These days with the credit crunch and an increased interest in the enviroment, more and more people are looking to move away from chemical cleaners and back to the more traditional methods used by our grandparents.

Normal household items, such as salt, vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda, as well as old-fashioned cleaning products like borax and castile soap can be combined to make organic cleaning products that produce results equivalent to the most expensive cleaning products.

Oven cleaning
Cleaning the oven is a job no-one enjoys, especially when spills have been allowed to accumulate and become ingrained. For a sparkling clean over simply mix half a cup of salt, a half cup of baking powder and a quarter cup of borax with enough warm water to make a paste, then apply it generously to the inside of the over. Leave for at least an hour and remove it with a cloth wrung out in white vinegar. For citrus freshness, add some lemon essential oil to the vinegar. Then wipe over once more with a clean, damp cloth.
